November 6, 2016

Hello BCS!

We “fell back” this morning with the end of Daylight Savings Time and fall colors are in full effect.  It was another great week at BCS!  If you haven’t “liked” Birmingham Covington School on Facebook yet, please do so and check out some pictures from the week.  Our annual Halloween Parade kicked of this past week, and now we begin to wrap up the first quarter preparing report cards which will be available through PowerSchool on Monday, November 14 for grades 5-8 and sent home via hard copy with our 3/4 students that day.  We also look forward to seeing our families at conferences on November 16 and 17 from 1-4 PM and 5-8 PM (both days are half days for students with buses running at an 11:30 AM dismissal-no choice hour).

Be sure your child shows their creativity through the PTSA Reflections contest!  As an additional reminder, the due date is fast approaching for BCS students to enter the PTA National Reflections Art Program and reflect on the theme, “What is Your Story?”  Create an original work in one of 6 categories:

The projects are due no later than this Friday, November 11.  Students can drop off their projects in the media center anytime this week.  Also there will be two drop off times this Thursday and Friday from 8-8:15am, and 3:20-4:25 PM in the main hall near the media center where students may drop off their projects before or after choice hour.  The top 2 entries from each category will go on to the BPS District Program and possibly State and/or National recognition.  Participants will be recognized/awarded at the BCS Reflections Luncheon.  Click here for Rules and Entry Form, or pick up hard copies in the BCS Media Center.

Want to help out? Sign up to volunteer and for Questions contact Diana Patterson at d4patter4@sbcglobal.net.

BCS is a great place to be!  We’re looking forward to our second great week of learning together at BCS!
