Character Connections Word of the week: COURAGE

Infuse this word into your conversations/lessons with your family as a character education focus.  Talk about the quotes.  There will be a new word every two weeks.

·       “One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” – Maya Angelou

·       “Without courage, wisdom bears no fruit.” Baltasar Gracian

·       “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” – Anais Nin

FEEDBACK REGARDING CHARACTER EDUCATION FOR BPS & BCS

A survey for parents of students in grades 4, 7 and 11.  Every three years the Character Education Steering Committee requests that 4th, 7th and 11th grade students, parents and teachers, complete our Character Education Survey.  We try to keep the survey as brief as possible, but use this data to help drive our building and district work.  Each spring the survey is given, we collect the data and share this with our Steering Committee as well as our building liaisons to help drive the work we do.  This is also information we share with others throughout the district including district administration, the school board and our community as a whole.  Please help us by completing the survey by March 18th.  Thank you so much.  Here is the link to the survey:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9SYXTV5CharacterEducationSurvey2016.

7/8 NEWS

PICTURES NEEDED FOR THE 8TH GRADE THEN AND NOW

This is a reminder about the pictures needed for 8th graders for the "then and now" video to be shown at graduation. Each year, a video is prepared of the graduating class to be shown at the graduation ceremony. The video includes "then and now" pictures of each graduating student.  For your child to be included in the video, we need one photograph of your child as a baby/toddler and one recent picture.  The exact pictures to be used are up to you and your child.  We need hard copies of the photos (not electronic versions).  The reason for this is so that we have better control over the quality of the images that will be put into the video.  The photos will be returned to you by the end of the year. Please place your two photos in an envelope with your child's name on the front of the envelope.  Please drop the envelope off in the office by March 15.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Jen Savel at jensavel67@gmail.com. If you do not wish for your child to be included in the video, please send an email as well.

ATTENTION ALL 8TH GRADE BOYS SOCCER PLAYERS

The Groves Boys Soccer Boosters, Tom Flynn and Coach Turner would like to invite all BCS 8th grade boys going to Groves to an informational meeting, Tuesday March 15th at 6pm in the Groves Cafeteria. They will also be available to answer any questions you may have. There is a lot of new information that is going to be presented and they look forward to seeing you.
