Hello BCS!

Whether you traveled to a warmer climate or stayed right here at home embracing the beauty of springtime in Michigan, I trust you found some quality family time with those you love so dearly.  Time with our children can never be treasured enough, and I hope you had an opportunity to share some experiences together creating new lasting family memories.  Our superintendent recently shared a quote with us by Parker Palmer, founder of the Center for Courage and Renewal, who said, “Spring teaches me to look more carefully for the green stems of possibility:  for the intuitive hunch that may turn into a larger insight, for the glance or touch that may thaw a frozen relationship, for the stranger’s act of kindness that makes the world seem hospitable again. May this last part of our school year learning together at BCS be one where each of us looks more carefully for possibility, turns our creative hunches into insight, and spreads kindness around us enhancing and/or healing those relationships in our lives.  Welcome back to BCS and may each of us, particularly our dear teachers and students, finish strong!

Here’s to what will be another fantastic week of learning at BCS!

BCS – A Great Place to Be!

Character Connections Word of the week:  ACCEPTANCE

Infuse this word into your conversations with your children as a character education focus.

·         Be aware of their surroundings (including strangers or people in parked cars)

·         Avoid any people they do not know

·         Do not respond to or accept offers or requests made by strangers (i.e. help me find my pet, etc.)

·         Immediately report to their families, school and police any approach made to them by a stranger

·         Go directly home from school and check in with parents
