Hello BCS!

Let’s first extend a heartfelt bravo and congratulations to our BCS Theater Group and our Science Olympiad Team respectively.  Our Theater group wowed the crowd during each of their three performances this week, and our Science Olympiad team, in their tournament yesterday, competed against 33 other teams from around Michigan at the International Academy in Troy coming in 3rd place overall missing 2nd place by 1 point. The BCS team placed in the top 5 in 12 of their events! Click the following links for the results:  team results and individual results.  Way to go BCS!

We want to remind you of another event that’s a favorite of all of us.  The Proud Dads Eat & Run is this Friday during student lunches (3/4 at 11:45; 5/6 at 11:05; 7/8 at 12:40).  Dads, moms, loved ones, plan to join your child(ren) and their friends for lunch this Friday.  Check out the flyer for further details.  This is yet another way to embrace the great BCS community and enjoy the positive energy in and around our school!

Our BCS Service Learning Committee has organized a returnable bottle & can drive.  The flyer was sent home with students last week, and the can drive will be going on from Monday, January 27 through Friday, February 14 when February break begins.  Plus, the Super Bowl is great timing for collecting cans for our drive!  Cans will be collected in bins near the office and returned for cash by our awesome parent volunteers.  The can drive will involve a friendly competition with a partner school in California to see who can raise the most money with their returnables.  All proceeds will go to benefit Project COPE!  Click here for more details about the drive. Plus, if the students reach their collection goal, Mr. Morawski and Mrs. Chinn have a challenge to live up to – ask your children about it!

To help with taking back the cans/bottles click on the following link:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084CA4A62BA4F49-canand

Here’s to what will be another fantastic week of learning at BCS!

Attention all BCS families, it’s that time again!  The Blast needs you to CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSETS!

We are currently looking for any unopened games, gadgets, toys or trinkets that you would like to get rid of for our BCS Blast prize room.  Maybe you have a stash of never opened toys or "just in case" gifts or gift cards taking up way too much space in your closet.  What a great way to do some house cleaning!  Kids will be able to "purchase" these items in the prize room with the tickets they win at the BCS Blast.  Please bring your items to the “Closet Cleanout” bin placed just inside the office starting this Tuesday, January 21st and we will collect and distribute them to the BCS Blast prize room.  Anything we do not use will be delivered to The Bottomless Toy Chest local children's charity.  If you have any further questions please contact Kristi Grubb at either 248-259-7916 or xcpa2000@yahoo.com.  The 2014 Blast committee thanks you!
