  • FILMING AT BCS – PERMISSION NEEDED: Edutopia will be featuring BCS in their Schools that Work series.  They will be visiting this fall with their production crew to capture footage for their series highlighting what we do at BCS.  Edutopia is seeking parent permission in case they choose to use footage that includes your child(ren).  Click Edutopia Appearance Release Form and follow the directions in order to grant permission.

  • Directory Update - To update your directory information for the 2016-2017 school year. Please click HERE. Families who are new to BCS will need to create a new directory listing.

  • Summer Packets - All grades have summer homework!  You can find the summer homework packets and school supply list by clicking here.

  • Curriculum Nights - We look forward to seeing all our parents and guardians at our Back-to-School Curriculum Nights. These events begin at 6:00 PM with a PTSA reception in the main hallway outside the media center.  Let’s make it a year were we all continue to Value the 3E’s celebrating what is right with the world through partnership and collective engagement!
    • Grades 5 & 6 will be on September 8th - will begin at 5:30 p.m.
    • Grades 3 & 4 will be on September 15th
    • Grades 7 & 8 will be on September 22nd (Click here for the 7/8 letter and schedule.)
  • 2016-2017 Quarter I Choice Hour - NOW LATE - 2016-2017 Quarter I Choice Hour Selection Sheets were due May 31. Click HERE for the packets, and information about updated choices. Please mail your Selection Sheet to Mrs. Juriga in the BCS Office.

  • 2015-2016 3rd & 4th Grade Electric Vehicle, Mass Production Project - This year all of the 3rd and 4th graders worked to create an R2-D2 Star Wars Robot. A video about the project can be found HERE. All of the 3-4 students received one of the robots during assemblies on June 9th & 10.

  • 5/6 Overnight Camp, Fall 2016 - 5/6 Camp will take place September 14-16, 2016. We will be traveling to Camp Michindoh again this year. This trip is for all 5th and 6th graders. Click HERE for forms and more information. Informational meeting at Curriculum Night on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6-8pm in BCS Media Center.

  • 2016-2017 OPTIONAL 7/8 FIELD TRIPS – This year’s 7/8 students will have the opportunity to participate in two optional field trips: For a summary of both trips, click 2016-2017 Optional 7/8 Trips.

  • BCS Career Day, May 6 - The BCS Proud Dads sponsored "Career Day" ran after their regular lunch period and all BCS students will participate. "The purpose of the day is to expose students to a variety of future career path opportunities as well as to express the importance and need of ALL honorable work."   • BCS 20 Year Celebration, was Nov. 28 - #BCSTURNS20 - The BCS 20 YEAR CELEBRATION WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!   • The Ripple Effect -- A new BCS newsletter subtitled Sharing the Stories of BCS Students Making a Difference in the Lives of Others is a wonderful snapshot of some of the great work and learning that is ongoing at BCS. View all of the issues on our Students Home page.

  • Salmon in the Classroom -- Thanks to the generosity of the BCS PTSA and Premier Pet Supply in Beverly Hills, we are able to help the Great Lakes by raising salmon again this year. To view the blog click here: BCS Salmon Blog. This year's salmon were released on April 27, 2016 into the Clinton River in Auburn Hill's Riverside Park. 68 live salmon were released.   • Did you know? Every student in our school has to have their parent or guardian read the first two pages of the "Concussion Awareness Educational Material," complete the third page with the student's name and parent/guardian signature, and return the signed form back to the BCS office where it will be placed in the student's file per direction from the state.

  • BCS Bond 2015 Impact -- On May 5, 2015, voters in the Birmingham Public School District approved a bond proposal to improve school facilities, enhance building security for the safety of the students and staff, and provide up-to-date technology for students to remain globally competitive.   • BCS Wins National Recognition - Birmingham Covington School was just recognized as one of The 50 Best Middle Schools in the U.S. by TheBestSchools.org. They are the only school from Michigan to be designated with this honor by The Best Schools. TheBestSchools.org selected BCS based on several weighted factors, including academic excellence, NAEP scores, state assessment scores, received awards and rankings, geographical diversity, and reputation. Congratulations to BCS staff, students and families for this outstanding recognition.

  • 2015-16 Faculty awards and commendations:
    • Amanda Husband, art teacher, was selected to participate in the Henry Ford Teacher Fellow program which “utilizes a “co-creation” method to construct new education products and ideas that employ The Henry Ford’s extensive collection in an innovative and engaging way.”
    • John Prisciandaro, engineering technology teacher, was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Teachers Program through Oakland University School of Engineering and Computer Science.  This Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program seeks to strengthen K-12 education in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
